AGARWOOD

Agarwood is currently one of the most expensive raw material in the world, with price of up to $100,000 per kilogram. It is formed in the heartwood of Aquilaria trees when they infected with a type of mold called Phialophora parasitica.

 

OUD

Agarwood needs to be separated from healthy Aquilaria wood around it. Then, the resin-infused chips, also known as oud, are carved out by hand in a painstaking task that takes hours.

Oud chips are popular in the Middle East, They're burnt as tokens of hospitality and infused into clothes and garments as a perfume.

 

ESSENTIAL OIL

Oud oil is also distilled into an essential oil and in its purest form, a liter of aged oud oil can cost up to $100,000, earning the nickname of "liquid gold." As the popularity of oud continues to grow in the West, it is being used as an ingredient in several high-end perfumes, adding a warm, musky aroma.
